TileOS Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
TileOS ("the app") is a home-screen launcher for Android. This policy explains what the app accesses, what leaves your device, and the choices you have.
Information that stays on your device
- Notifications (only if you grant notification access). TileOS reads active notifications to show live tiles: missed calls, messages, chats and media. Notification content (senders, message text, titles, images) is processed on your device only. It is never stored on a server, sent to us, or shared with anyone.
- Media sessions. With notification access, TileOS shows what is playing and lets you control playback. This stays on your device.
- Installed apps. The app lists your launchable apps so you can open, search, pin, hide and favorite them. The list stays on your device.
- Usage history (optional). If you grant "Usage access", favorites learn from which apps you open and when. This history is read on your device and never leaves it. Apps you launch through TileOS are also recorded on the device for the same purpose.
- Your settings. Your name for the greeting, theme, font, colours, dock, hidden apps and other preferences are stored on your device.
- Wallpaper photo. A photo you choose through the system photo picker is copied into the app's private storage to be shown behind your tiles. TileOS can only see the photo you pick.
Information that leaves your device
- Weather. To show weather, the coordinates of the city you choose, or your approximate location if you turn on "Use device location", are sent to the Open-Meteo weather service (open-meteo.com). No other data is sent with the request.
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. If "Share usage analytics" is on (the default), TileOS sends anonymous usage events and crash reports using Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. This includes the screens you open, the settings you choose (for example theme or font), which features you use (for example dismissing a tile or opening the letter index), counts (for example how many apps are hidden), the permissions you have granted, device model, OS version and an app-instance identifier. It never includes notification content, sender or contact names, your greeting name, your city, search text, or which apps you use. The advertising ID is not collected. Google processes this data under its own terms: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
You can turn off analytics and crash reports at any time in Customize → Privacy → Share usage analytics.
Advertising
TileOS shows no ads and does not use your data for advertising.
